Staff Wellness Is Key, Says EWS.
The Employee Wellness Services (EWS) office will be holding a wellness event on 27 September 2013 at the Munsieville Sports Hub.
The affair will run from 09h00 until 15h00 in the afternoon.
The significance of the event is to give employees an opportunity to check their state of health. It will also encourage them to live a positive and healthy lifestyle in order to improve their well-being.
EWS is an internal service that helps with monitoring, diagnosis, referral and support of minor ailments, emergency services (i.e. first aid) and chronic diseases such as high blood pressure, hemoglucotest (diabetes), cholesterol, body mass index and men's health. This unit also encourages those who are relatively well to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
The upcoming wellness event aims to educate and promote corporate wellness and to encourage employees to make healthy lifestyles their priority. These are essential because they help in reducing absenteeism in the workplace and increase productivity.
Wellness day will be loaded with a variety of both indoor and outdoor activities and the following screening tests will be available:
- Voluntary Confidential Counseling and testing (VCCT) for HIV
- Cholesterol
- Blood glucose for diabetes
- Body mass
- Men's health
- Cancer
- Blood pressure monitoring
Medical aid schemes, Old Mutual, Avbob and banking institutions will educate employees on financial wellness which may lead to physical and psychological ailments.
The emphasis on employee health is not confined to wellness day; EWS hopes to run more programmes throughout the year to encourage healthy behavior among Mogale City employees.
